The pythics project

Pythics is a python package designed to facilitate the creation of easy to use computer interfaces for scientific instrumentation. It utilizes xHTML to control the look of this interface, while leveraging the full power of the Python programming language and all of its available packages to allow maximum versatility in building and customizing the user interface. Our goal is to provide a lighter, open-source alternative to proprietary, processor intensive languages, freeing more of your resources to be used for data display, processing, and acquiring instruments to control.

Pythics is currently in a stable state, although documentation is still a work in progress. Until now written and maintained entirely by Brian D'Urso, the project is currently looking to recruit new writers and maintainers as it looks towards the future. Current code and further project details available on the Pythics GitHub page.
